Please note the intention of this guide is simply to facilitate use of the Cancer Council Australia guidelines and the updated MBS item numbers for colonoscopy. This is a personal website, and not officially endorsed by any government or private institution.

The quick synopsis guide uses information and images directly obtained from the publicly available guidelines published March 2019 and from MBS Online. This will make quick reference easier once the formal guidelines and schedule have been reviewed.

Do not base your followup on the information contained in this site without formally consulting and reviewing the complete guidelines and MBS schedule below*, which include more detail and information required to make an informed decision.

As suggested by the guideline, surveillance intervals should be determined after the colon has been cleared of all significant neoplasia, once histology is known, and in the context of individualised assessment of benefit to the patient.
